If you live in an apartment in Charlotte, NC please be careful driving over Labor Day Weekend. Remember to always have a designated driver, take cab or public transportation. However, we ask you to also be aware that holiday summer weekends see an uptick in drunk driving, so be aware of other drivers on the road as well.
Authorities say law enforcement officers are out in full force across North Carolina to catch drunken drivers. The Labor Day “Booze It and Lose It” campaign kicked off on Friday, August 16.
Law enforcement officers across the state will be out in full force to cite drunk drivers. The director of the Governor's Highway Safety Program says young adults often celebrate with alcohol as they say good-bye to summer and head back to school. Don Nail says the campaign is designed to remind them they should designate a sober driver, call a cab or take public transit.
Almost 11,000 alcohol-related crashes happened in North Carolina last year, the Department of Transportation says. It adds men 18 to 34 are most likely to be offenders.
The campaign runs from Aug. 16 through Labor Day on Sept. 2.
